The greatest cutting depth is 280m, and the average depth is 30-80m.

Hydrology: The largest resource of natural surface water is the Huaihe River, flowing from South Lake Village in Huaiyuan County to the eastern part of Dongka village in Wuhe County through the southern point of Huaiyuan County, the northern part of Bengbu Municipality, and the southern point of Wuhe County. The total length is 150.7 km, among which, 16.8 km northern bank and 28 southern bank lie in the city of Bengbu. The riverbed is 600-800m in width with the annual runoff of 26.3 billion cubic meters.

The natural surface waters to the north of Huaihe River are Tuo River, Hui River, Beifei River, Xie River, Guo River, and so on, while that to the south of Huaihe River are only Tian River and Longzi River.

The artificial river New Ciwei River and New Huaihong River are all located in the northern side. Beifei River (10km long in Bengbu) is a tributary of the Huaihe River. Longzi River lies in the southeast urban area and it is 10 km long, 300~500m wide, with the average depth of 2 meters.
